| Memories: | "When I was in the sixth grade, something great happened at school. We got electricity! We never did get running water or inside rest rooms, but what we did get were electric lights and a record player. The big deal about that was that now we had music. We learned how to square dance, do the Virginia Reel plus other dances. I can still remember Shirley Rydeen's and my learning to dance to the "Wednesday Night Waltz". Whether we were doing it right or not I'll never know, but we sure did try." -Irene Ancke Elkins |
